Ideally you would obtain an entry level 5.1 system that, IMO and E, will generally blow the pants off the Bose, or any soundbar for that matter. It is just a set-up issue. Also for components that plug into the TV, I guess the manufacturers figure that you'd be smart enough to just get the signal from the device to the receiver yourself. This means that my buddy is screwed.
