I guess the alternative is cracking the case and trying the drive in another enclosure. It gets much easier after you get the first one. This design, together with the very small dimensions of the box, does not ensure enough airflow to cool the disk. I might add that this has a 3 A power supply and had shortly before successfully spun a 1 TB Seagate ES2 drive under full load (data transfer) for nearly 24 Seagate Manager Windows 10 I turn it off, and it actually goes off (unlike before when I had to pull the power cord out). I really hope this workes for you al with the same problem. I don't want the next guy to get it with my data on it.

If your data is that important and you wanna retrieve it (or, have a chance at retrieving it) then pop it open, hook it up to your system and see if The hard drive itself should be perfectly fine - I'd say the chances for recovering your data are good. I figured 25 for a case was better than 150 for a new drive. Any thoughts?
So I’ve previously lost faith in WD & LaCie and now Seagate is problematic. Reformated it with seagate tools and used to directly off USB hub on computer and worked fine ever since.
