I too am going back to traditional configuration and turning off Windows Server LAN configuration on all of the cliet PCS, enabling DHCP on server, etcThis means though that if the Dont want to adjust the registry like adviced here: http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2009/01/29/cannot-resolve-names-in-certain-top-level-domains-like-co-uk.aspx but i created a net stop dns / net start dns script. You could run this from your client, and you could also run it from the SBS server to query it's DNS servers.

In fact, DNS on the client is set to the VPN IP address on the server, so VPN is definitely involved.I found that running:IPCONFIG /RELEASEIPCONFIG /RENEWseems to fix it. When we connect Outlook externally to that IP address it works fine. It's a bug in 2k8 r2. Can you remove all of the forwarders (making sure your root hints list is fully populated first) and run it that way for a little while with the debug log turned
I agree, very irritating, it's not something the SBS team can control. http://kwsupport.com/2012/09/sbs-2011-dns-parameter-maxcachettl-is-not-set/ But, this is just temporary solution I think, because I have to do it everyday. I can't say why neither of those servers returned a response to your server, but at the very least, I'd remove your first two forwarders. Hi All, After banging my head against a brick wall I found the solution myself. Open up DNS Manager, click on DNS in the left frame, right click on your server in the right frame, and click Properties.
If it works ok without the forwarders try adding some known good ones (google). What am I doing wrong? 4/10/2013 7:20 AM Omar Butt said... Is the Caesar cipher really a cipher? You can see where there was a server fail, but I refreshed and it worked.
Anyway, that is my anti-Microsoft rant for the day. Well, let’s find out. Did the change a few months ago. http://qrwsoftware.com/sbs-2011/sbs-2011-vpn-setup-guide.html Hi Bryan,Thanks for your feedback.
When I saw that it had not given the server a static IP, I decided that I better go ahead and give it one. It's become an embarassment and one of my clients is asking if we got the right OS for the job. I guess my main suggestion is a short, prominent statement somewhere that briefly explains the choice, and then gives a link to your article. but pretty easy to do (happens most of the time) Any specific options you want me to enable?
