After experimenting I changed the first line, number of channels, from 2.0 to 5.1 and now it works perfect. Go into your device's settings and ensure that optical output is turned on and that it is set to use the best quality audio possible. It is connected with HDMI cables in between these. After you switch your source to TV, open up one of the apps and make sure that your receiver has ARC enabled as well as selecting the hdmi receiver as your Although as stated here, I'm not sure this solution will stop the audio from being dumbed down, being the tv is still in the hdmi chain further down.

Connect one end of the Optical Audio cable to the Optical Digital IN port on the back of the Sound bar.
